Set of two Z-chairs in style of Gerrit Rietveld
Set of 2 vintage side chairs in the style of Gerrit Rietveld’s Zig-Zag design. The chairs are most likely well-made copies of Rietveld’s work from the 1970s or 1980s. They offer a surprisingly comfortable sit and remain in very good, beautifully patinated vintage condition—with only one carefully restored corner on one of the seats.
While they capture the sculptural essence of the design, we believe they are not official production originals. The historic editions for Metz & Co and Groenekan were typically executed in harder woods like elm or beech, and relied on bolts or dovetail joints rather than the finger joints seen here. Regardless, they form a striking statement piece for any modern or mid-century interior.
