Set of 4 ‘Pamplona’ dining chairs by Augusto Savini
Set of 4 very dining chairs, model ‘Pamplona’ designed by Augusto Savini and produced by Pozzi in Italy since 1965. The, almost sensual, ash wooden frame is what defines the Pamplona chair. The curvy construction draws a continuous line linking the front legs, armrests and rear supports, creating a strong and balanced silhouette. Artisan techniques were used like the dovetail joints on the armrests. The discreet metal elements behind the backrest show a recognizable part of the chair’s construction, meanwhile contrasting with the wood: a typical expressive feature of Italian mid-century modern pieces. The upholstery of this set has just been redone in cream coloured ‘Apollo’ a super soft and supple velvet fabric, so this is in a mint condition. A few wooden armrests had some scratches and small chipping that was restored meticulously. Overall these dining chairs are in good re-upholstered condition. One of the chairs is still labeled by Pozzi with a sticker.
