Writing desk by Axel Larsson
Swedish Modern writing desk, designed by Swedish architect Axel Larsson and produced by Svenska Möbelfabrikerna in Bodafors during the 1930s. This stained elm desk features two cabinets with shelves on one side and drawers on the back. One cabinet has drawers on the inside and a patented folding shelf for a typewriter, registered with the Patent- och registreringsverket (PRV) in 1938 under patent number 93147. Normal wear and tear; partial veneer damage was meticulously restored in our own workshop. Original keys included.

Axel Larsson was a distinguished Swedish furniture designer and interior architect whose influential career spanned over half a century. Joining Svenska Möbelfabrikerna in Bodafors at age 25, he operated from their Stockholm office for three decades. Larsson achieved widespread recognition at the landmark 1930 Stockholm Exhibition, where he debuted his first furniture line—a collection celebrated for seamlessly blending modernism with classic Swedish craftsmanship. After establishing his independent studio in 1956, he continued to collaborate with Bodafors until 1975. Beyond his extensive portfolio of individual furniture pieces, Larsson spearheaded several prestigious interior design commissions, including the Gothenburg Concert Hall, the Park Avenue Hotel, and the Folksam building at Skanstull in Stockholm.
