Easy chair by Jindrich Halabala, 1940s
This easy chair was designed by Czech designer Jindrich Halabala and produced by Up Zavody in Czechoslovakia of the 1940’s. The wooden beechwood frame was fully restored and refinished, and has been professionally reupholstered with new padding and new fabric. Typical for this model are the steam-bent armrests and a heavily reclined backrest to create a comfortable seating position. The frame is structurally sound and sturdy and has been stained and varnished to protect the wood.
The off white fabric ‘Bulu’ is a mix of polyester, acryl and cotton and was made by Aristide, a Belgian quality brand. It’s a very durable fabric but feels soft like a plush teddy bear. In very good, fully restored condition, ready for immediate everyday use as a lounge or reading chair.
