‘Casablanca’ lounge chair by Jamie Tresserra
This luxurious lounge chair with ottoman was designed by Spanish architect and designer Jaime Tresserra Clapés for Tresserra Collection in Madrid in 1987. This armchair with wooden backrest and armrests is executed in light veneered walnut with chrome-plated fittings. The ottoman has a beech substructure. The armchair and ottoman were recently re-upholstered in a deep green, soft velvet. The separate covers have neatly stitched seams and new leather straps. Some small using marks on the wood, but overall in very good condition.

Jaime Tresserra Clapés was born in Barcelona in 1943 and raised in a world shaped by theatre, couture, and artistic expression. After studying at Barcelona’s Escola Massana, he moved through advertising and interior architecture before creating his first bespoke furniture pieces for private clients. He developed a very personal style with sculptural purity, refined materials, and timeless presence as most important elements.
In 1987, he founded J. Tresserra Design, later becoming Tresserra Collection SL, and debuted his first collection at the Valencia International Furniture Fair, where it received the award for Best Modern Furniture Design. His work was subsequently presented at the international fairs of Milan and Cologne, while major interior architecture projects — including the design of 28 luxury residences at Hotel Arts Barcelona — brought international recognition to the studio.
Over the following decades, Tresserra expanded internationally with galleries and concessions across Europe and the United States, including Paris and New York. Today, he still designs exclusive pieces for collectors and private residences worldwide, His furniture has been part of various international exhibitions and today his pieces are in several museums, in Barcelona, Hamburg, Munich and Amsterdam.
