Bar trolley by Poul Volther (Sold)
Elegant bar cart, designed by Poul Volther rand produced by Gemla Mobler in Sweden in the 1960’s. This teak trolley has two tiers to carry a lot of bottles, glasses or a tea pot and cups, ideal for a tea party or a cocktail evening! The wood shows a nice grain. In very good condition, as shown in the pictures.

Poul M. Volther (1923–2001) was a master of modern Danish design—and a name that still resonates in homes around the world today. With a background as a skilled cabinetmaker, he stepped into the spotlight in 1950 when he took over as head of design at FDB Møbler, following in the footsteps of the legendary Børge Mogensen.
Volther had a clear vision: create high-quality, functional furniture that everyday people could afford. As Denmark entered a new era of prosperity, his pieces became a natural fit for the fresh, functional homes of the post-war years.
One of his most iconic creations? The J46 chair, launched in 1956. With its elegant spindle-back design and fresh take on the classic kitchen chair, it became an instant bestseller—and remains a Danish favorite to this day.
Volther’s philosophy was rooted in craftsmanship and comfort. He didn’t design for showrooms—he designed for real life. His legacy includes not only the J46 but also the world-famous Corona chair, a sculptural masterpiece that’s become a global design icon.
