3-Seater sofa by Franz Köttgen
Currently on hold. 3-Seater sofa with travertine side table designed by Franz Kitten and produced by Kill International in Germany in the 1960’s. The cognac colored leather used for the upholstery is of a high quality and feels very smooth. The 6603 sofa is sleek and streamlined and has a deep seat and down-filled yet firm cushions, making it ideal for lounging and sitting for longer periods. The metal rods holding the blackened oak backrest, can easily be removed to create a very comfortable daybed. One back pillow could use some a bit of extra feather down filling. The leather shows a few small using marks and one extra hole from moving the backrest. There’s a thin hairline running over the travertine top. In good condition.

The German brand Kill International was established during the 1950’s by designer Alfred Kill, the name mimicking that of Knoll International that was fast becoming one of the most popular design brands in that same era. Kill however explicitly wanted to focus on modern design, superior craftsmanship and premium materials rather than mass produced items.
He started working together with famous designers as Preben Fabricius & Jørgen Kastholm in 1961 after promising them total control over production and a big salary. Together they made some highly sought-after designs like the Scimitar Chair (1962); Bo-562 Sofa and Bo-562 Chair (1963), using foremost leather and steel in stead of wood. In later years also Horst Brüning drew some famous designs for the company.
The company has a long history of producing upscale furniture that found their way into luxury homes, offices, and high-end hotels, thanks to their designs being sophisticated and comfortable at the same time.
